The single most important part of working on redesigns or refurbishment of heirloom pieces, is to respect where the jewellery has come from. Not only the jewellery, but each component of the piece, particularly when we are taking them apart. Our team of jewellers will assess the piece for any possible risks. Some precious metals cannot be melted and reused and some diamonds will require revitalisation to bring them to their former glory before being reset into a new design.
Redesigning Jewellery
Redesigning inherited or generational jewellery can be a fun, yet very emotional process. Clients will bring us numerous pieces of jewellery that may represent loved ones. It is our role to work with their vision and recreate them into something beautiful and wearable with respect to their meaning and sentimental value.
When remodelling diamond jewellery, our jewellers carefully consider what the client is looking for in the redesign – an everyday piece of jewellery that reminds them of their loved one, or a special occasion piece that respects the original era of the piece. As specialists in bespoke fine jewellery, we work to the individual requests of our clients and handcraft a design to their style and preference with the utmost care and precision.

A MODERN VINTAGE
“This is a redesign using my mum’s engagement ring diamond. I sat with it for a while, prior to deciding to have it made into a ring that I can wear every day. I wanted it to be fresh and bold but I wanted the diamond to stand alone in the design. With this particular diamond, it is quite common for it to be in a trio. I wanted to be able to say THAT is my mums diamond not ‘one of those diamonds in the design is my mums diamond’, so I worked with Rohan to put my own creative mark on designing it into something modern and contemporary but with history and meaning.”

A RING FOR THE AGES
“My beautiful rings, which I call ‘my love rings’ are so special to me because they have been created from jewellery given/inherited from family. From my late husband, mother, father, mother-in-law and two very special aunts, all people I loved dearly.
Then to make it extra special on my 70th birthday my sons and the ‘birthday girls’ gave me some money towards my dream. So they are a special part as well. Now I wear my rings all the time, look at them and remember, instead of having a box of unworn jewellery.
Of course behind each piece of the old jewellery there is another story!! For example the champagne diamond which was found as a ring by my aunt in Sydney, in I think the 1940’s, she had made into a bar broach, she was always very smartly dressed and wore it often. When she gave it to me as my style was more casual I had it made into a pendant.”
